I am not the smallest, my brother is.. I am going to live with Christopher, my owners grandson, when I get older. He has named me "Dixie".

6 October 2008.

Dixie weights 3.9 oz and is not gaining weight fast enough. We will be supplementing her with a bottle.

8 October 2008.

Dixie weights 4.1 oz so for, she has only gained .2oz in two days. We will be monitoring her weight and try to get her to drink more milk on every feeding.

9 October 2008.

Dixies in trouble! Her weight is now 4.7oz. so she is gaining some weight but she has almost stopped sucking and it is hard to get milk in her.

10 October 2008.

UPDATE ON DIXIE: I was on my way to the vet to put her to sleep. She was so weak and sick that the end seemed to be in sight. Talking to my boyfriend on the way into town and listening to her cry, she just seemed to have such a will to live. Instead of dropping her off and letting her go, I decided to take a chance and see if there was something we could try.

Prognosis was not good… Fluid on her lungs, dehydrated and gasping for air, the next 24 hours would tell. Armed with antibiotics, saline for under her skin to help with the dehydration, Karo syrup for her glucose levels and LOTS OF LOVE we came home!

11 October 2008.

Dixie has made it thur the night, she is getting stronger and I am hopeful. Tina, the future grandmother will be taking care of her tonight.

12 October 2008.

Dixie has made it thur another day and getting stronger. About 3a.m. she started breathing normally and is started to suck on the bottle.

13 October 2008.

Horray!! Dixie is doing just wonderful. She weighs 5.4 oz. and is sucking, fighting for food and her eyes are finally open.

14 October 2008.

Dixie is 3 weeks old!

Looking at the size of her sister, Myia, she needs to gain lots of weight.

16 October 2008.

Dixie doing great, she now weighs 6.02 oz.

20 October 2008.

Dixie is having some problems again. She does not want to eat much and I am having real problems getting her to go to the potty. She is however holding her own on her weight and gaining. She weighs 7.4oz. She has gained 1.2 ounces.

Horray I'm 4 weeks old. I'v been having a really hard time getting here, but I am HERE! My mom said that I have been really sick and not wanting to eat, but she is starting to feed me FOOD.

I now weigh 8 ounces, 1/2 pound.

             I'm 4 weeks old!              That's a Thumb?                  I'm still Little!         This is My Aunt Victoria.

I went to the vet today for my first physical since I was so sick. The Dr. said that I was toooo little to get my first shot so I get to wait for two more weeks. I was soooo upset about that, NOT! I weigh 11 ozs. now and when I grow up, WHO KNOWS!

Updates 6 November 2008.

I am 6 weeks old, The vet and my owner say its a miracle. Tina, my new mom, is taking me home this week. I get to come to work with her every day and I can play with Myia.
