Communication Apron
The “Communication Apron”, allows the facilitator to use both hands to assist and interact with clients that require specific objects, pictures or symbols to assist them with their communication and choice making skills. It is designed to fit all, with straps that are completely removable. Velcro is sewn to the corners of the apron at the top and waist, allowing the straps to be fashioned and adjusted. The Top of the apron may be folded down allowing the use of the bottom pockets only. The Aprons come in a variety of colors, with three multi-colored pockets along the bottom. This apron will prove to be a great tool for teachers, therapists, parents and other providers.
Each apron set includes communication cards consisting of simple pictures, grouped specifically for daily activities. To utilize the communication boards and objects in conjunction with the apron, attach “Hook Velcro” to the back of the object, individual pictures or symbol, and place on the apron. The colored pockets allow extra items to be accessible to the facilitator, or for transitions in choice making from objects to symbols. Objects and individual picture are placed with-in the pockets, and symbols of the objects placed on the outside, thus when a symbol is chosen, the object or picture is removed from the pocket.
