I have had my vest for a while now, and my closures don't seem to hold quite as well as they did when I first got it. Am I doing something wrong, or do I need to return it for repairs?
All wearable products are guaranteed for 90 days from receipt, if you have a problem within this period please call our office and we will either replace or repair any of our products*. Our Velvasoft material may break down after repeated washings and/or constant wear. Adding a piece of Female/Plush Velcro to the worn area will return the vest to “like new” condition. If you can not sew the piece of plush material on yourself, please call our office for a return authorization number. We will gladly add the necessary plush material to the vest for a minimal fee. You pay the shipping/handling to us and we will pay shipping charges to return it back to you. Remove the weights and return the vest only.

Your information on the deep pressure vest says that you have to hang to dry.
Can I dry clean them.
Due to the nature of the fabric used for velvasoft products we recommend that they not be dry-cleaned.

What is the material made of for the Velvasoft products?
Material is a 100% polyester weave with a 16th of an inch foam core and a nylon mess backing. It is considered Class A for flame retardancy.

What happens if my child/client eats the steel pellets?
The steel pellets are very tiny and if ingested will cause no physical problems and normally flush completely out of the body. If ingested, please contact a medical professional and monitor the client until steel pellets pass thru the system.

Can the Velvasoft or Koolnit products be washed?
Velvasoft products are completely washable and dried on a low heat. Slight shrinkage may occur.

Can the weights be washed?
The Steel pellets will rust if exposed to moisture. If a weight is soiled, use a damp cloth and gently rub the weight, then place the weight in a open area to dry.

What size do I purchase if my child/client is not within the stand size range?
We pride ourselves in making sure that a product fits each client and will make “special ordered sizes. You give us the measurements of your child/client and we will make your specific product to size. We tipically add two inches to your measurments, width and length for growth.

How do I measure my child/client?
Width is a measureed totally around the chest or tummy, depending on which one is larger. Measure at the breast area around the shoulder blades for the chest. Measure around the belly button area around the waist
Length is measured from the top of the shoulder to the waist or the top of the thigh, depending where you want the bottom of the product.

What if I do not have a tape measure?
Look around your home/office for standard floor tile. Most office or home tile is a standard 12 inches. Take a piece of string and measure the client s width and length, then lay the string along the tile and estimate the closest measurement. We add a standard 2 inches for growth to the given width and length.

How long can my child/client wear the product?
General rule is to put the product on prior to the activity that causes the negative behavior and remove the product after the activity is finished. Some clients wear the products all day or all night with no negative results.

What if they will not let me put the product on or take it off?
Introduction of any new product can be challenging. If a client initially resists a product, slow and steady persistence generally works. Once the product is accepted and there is a noticeable resistance to remove it, allowing the client to wear it longer is not a problem. We have been told that some children/clients ware items all day or all night.
Our research team found no*histrionic effect with our weighted products. They are currently studying our deep pressure products and anticipate the same results. (We can make a link to the research study here when you are ready)
**Histrionic effect is described as a situation in which the brain/body needs more and more stimulation to achieve the same effect.

How much weight is normal for my child/client?
General rule with any weighted product is 5% of the child/clients body weight. M.W. Sales staff recommends that you begin with the least amount of weight and add until the desired effect is achieved. Less weight, such as 2.5%, is recommended for a specific area such as the neck.
